MAJOR HARRY S. BUCKNER, III

Major Harry S. Buckner III is the Recruiting Officer for Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 390, at the University of Michigan. As the Recruiting Officer, Maj Buckner is responsible for recruiting, retaining and developing officer candidates into leaders and commissioned officers in the US Air Force.


Major Buckner earned his commission through the Airman Education and Commissioning Program (AECP) at Arizona State University and Officer Training School at Maxwell AFB, Alabama. Upon commission, Major Buckner worked on various projects as a Rocket Sled Data Engineer and Project Manager. In addition, he was responsible for tactics, development, and evaluations for the COMPASS CALL EC-130H and Combat Search and Rescue HC-130J platforms. As an Education with Industry Fellow, Major Buckner assisted with Proctor and Gamble’s database cloud migration. As a Special Operation Force and Rotary Wing test manager, he served as the division’s single point of contact and crafted test plans and strategies.
